Augmented Reality: The Next Step to Interactive Learning

Augmented reality is a new technology combining a reality and computer generated images. The technology uses a camera, a computer and symbols on an object. The computer is then able to recognize the symbol and replaces it on a computer screen with a graphic image such as a 3D model or uses the symbols as a command the user issues.

Augmented reality can be used as an extension to books, like text books or books one would normally read casually. Here is A good example of a Text book or game being used with augmented reality to promote learning. The symbol reveals information about different parts of a body. The game shows how the symbols can be used to make an interactive game where you are part of.

The popular game system the PlayStation 3 by Sony has been developing games like Eye Pet or Eye of Judgement. Within these games the players can interact with creatures as if they were actually sitting right in front of you.
